The term Sustainable Development first came into prominence in the World Conservation Strategy, presented in 1980 by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN).
In 1987 UNWCED integrated the Basic Needs approach and Environmental Conservation approach. The Brundtland Report “Our Common Future” defines ,
 “Sustainable seeks to meet the needs and aspirations of the present without compromising the ability of the future generations to meet their own needs.”
